Hi I'm Amy Guo!

I'm a 4th-year undergraduate CS + Communications Student @ Northwestern University.

I'm interested in web development & human-computer interaction.

I'm currently an undergraduate researcher in the Ka Moamoa Lab, using Typescript to create a webtool for Microsoft JacDac that allows users to simulate/build energy harvester-powered hardware devices in software.

In the past, I was a Technology Consultant Intern at Credera and used Swift to implement mobile wallet functionality to an energy company's iOS mobile app with over 200k users.

I'm also passionate about making CS more inclusive and helping students become better learners.

Past Projects + Papers

Project/Paper Title Description

Hive MPD

[Code] [Try it Out]
An app to connect alumni and current students in Northwestern's mpd² program. Built with React, Firebase, & MaterialUI framework.

Battery-free MakeCode

[Read the Paper]
Microsoft MakeCode is one of the most popular platforms for teaching/learning how to create physical hardware devices. The Battery-free MakeCode project transforms standard Microsoft MakeCode programs to add additional system support, which allows these programs to run on energy harvesters such as solar panels. I conducted a user study and analyzed the data with Python to measure the usability of the system.

North By Northwestern Housing Guide 2021

[Code] [Try it Out]
Using Javascript/HTML/CSS, I led the development of the Northwestern Undergraduate Housing guide, which helps incoming Freshmen narrow down the housing/dorm options based on different filters.
